This is the assignments page for the practice sessions for the Fall 2003 ACM Programming Contest and Fall 2003 William Lowell Putnam Competition. We will add to the contents of this page each week.

• Assignment #1. Assigned 27 August 2003. Due 3 September 2003.

  You will select (or be assigned) one problem from the 1938 Putnam problem set http://www.kalva.demon.co.uk/putnam/putn38.html and/or one problem from the 1998 ACM Arab and African Regional Programming Contest http://www.acm.inf.ethz.ch/ProblemSetArchive/B_EU_AARC/1998/index.html. The solution will be available to you, but you are urged to try to understand the problem and explore solutions before looking at the existing solution. You are to prepare a presentation of the problem and the solution to present at our meeting of 3 September 2003. You should be prepared for questions.
