- Assignment #1, assigned 30 January 2006, due 6 February 2006. Read Barnett and Ziegler Chapter
1. Do all exercises through the ones on page 34. Organize your
homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 1-4.B or 1-3.C).
- Assignment #2, due 13 February 2006.
- Read Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 2.
- Reread Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 1, sections 1-5 - 1-8.
- Do all exercises after the ones on page 34 through
the ones on page 60 (Exercises 1-5, 1-6, 1-7, 1-8). Organize
your homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 1-6.B or 1-8.C).
- 20 February 2006: President's Day/ College Closed
- Assignment #3, due 22 February 2006 (advanced from 1 March 2006).
- Reread Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 2, sections 2-1 - 2-4.
- Do all exercises after the ones on page 60 through
the ones on page 109 (Exercises 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4). Organize
your homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 2-1.B or 2-3.C). Be prepared
to explain the answers to any of the problems on the board.
- Assignment #4, due 1 March 2006 (advanced from 6 March 2006).
- Read Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 3.

- Assignment #5, due 8 March 2006 (advanced from 13 March 2006).

the ones on page 161 (Exercises 3-1 through 3-4). Organize
your homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 3-3.B or 3-4.C). Be prepared
to explain the answers to any of the problems on the board. This
is a particularly difficult set of problems. Do not hesitate to
visit the tutors. Do work in study groups. It is OK to help one another
with these homework problems as long as you are certain you know
how to do the ones you submit.

- 15 March 2006: MIDTERM. There will be a midterm in class on Wednesday, 15
March 2006.

difficult chapter. Form study groups and discuss what you read.
- ReRead Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 5, sections 5-6 through 5-8.

the ones on page 291 (Exercises 5-6 through 5-8). Organize
your homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 5-6.B or 5-8.C). Be prepared

- ReRead Barnett and Ziegler Chapter 7. This is the last chapter
we will cover, and this is the last assigment. Form study groups and
discuss what you read. Do a good job.

the ones on page 430 (Exercises 7-1 and 7-6). Organize
your homework so that you can turn in any or all of the lettered groups
of problems separately (e.g. Exercise 7-2.B or 7-6.C). Be prepared
to explain the answers to any of the problems on the board.
Do work in study groups. It is OK to help one another
with these homework problems as long as you are certain you know
how to do the ones you submit.
- Final. There will be an in-class two-part open book, open notes final
during finals week, half on 10 May 2006 and half on 15 May 2006. You must attend
both halves in order to complete the course.
